I’ve been thinking about,
As David Bowie would say,
Ch-ch-ch-changes
And I find it helps to sing.
Worries in tune aren’t that bad.

Chocolate cupcake,
you make me oh so happy.
Your decorations
are appealing to the eye
while your taste is just pure NOM.

Almost done! April 25, 2009

Everyone is done!
Yet here I am, studying.
The sun taunting me
with the promise of fun times,
if only I can hold out.

Marginalia April 23, 2009

Filed under: Tanka — Victoria @ 4:31 pm

Marginalia
Bothers and annoys me so
Blue-black bruises
Scrawled remnants of other hands
Slash inky wounds on the page

What’s even worse is that the marginalia are so seldom enlightening and/or amusing.

Not too long ago,
We were wearing scarves and toques.
Now I look outside,
The scene is still blinding white,
but instead of snow, its light.

Yay! I do love wearing my shades! 😀

Small people

People are like ants
When you’re in a high building,
Looking down below.
I wonder where they’re going
And to what higher purpose…

Studying with Sarah. April 22, 2009

Filed under: Tanka — Sun Tzu @ 8:05 am

“I’ll be there early”
Sarah proclaims happily.
“Be there a bit late”
Sarah texts Garrick at 8
“Oh and get me a coffee”

You are just a wellspring of inspiration, Sarah. This ones for you!

Another Overheard Conversation April 21, 2009

I seen Mike at church,
He gone built a swimmin’ hole
There in his back yard.
When we done here, we should go.
We can hang out with some beer.

Oh redneck construction worker building the house next door, thou art a poet and a scholar. If only you knew how well your words fit this eloquent Japanese verse, your heart would leap boundless over the plywood board you are hammering on so loudly.

Each bright glowing star
seems to be singing a song
unheard by our ears.
Drowned out by all the white noise,
we’re left lifeless like robots.

A boy and a girl
meet at a chic coffee shop.
A blind date set up.
Too bad flowers were not brought,
and that you spilled her latte.

I poured a perfectly nice heart and rosetta to wish them luck on their blind date. He spills part of the heart making it look like an onion!
